The City of Abbotsford’s Geomatics Division is seeking a self-motivated and experienced professional to join their team as an auxiliary Applications Analyst. This position is full time on a temporary basis until return of incumbent; approximately five months.
Under the supervision of the Manager, the Applications Analyst (Geomatics) determines technology requirements for business processes and user requests, and analyzes and implements solutions that will support and improve their efficiency. The successful candidate develops or modifies applications as required to suit business requirements, maintains related documentation and provides user support of applications.
In this exciting role you bring considerable knowledge and skill in developing business solutions, utilizing leading technology platforms such as Esri, ArcGIS Online, Open Data, GeoCortex, SharePoint, Amanda, Tempest, RIVA, SAP, or other enterprise systems. Your ability to communicate effectively will be beneficial as you work closely with end users, management and information systems to leverage technology in the development of business solutions, focusing its efforts on the continuous improvement of business processes and the development of functional requirements and technology solutions that meet business objectives.
Your keen interest and desire to constantly build and improve technical and interpersonal skills is an important quality to possess in this role.
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
• Two-year diploma in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or equivalent diploma from a recognized educational institution.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with programming, systems design, application support, GIS, implementing business applications, conducting data analysis, documenting processes and procedures, business requirements gathering, and developing visualization products such as dashboards and other reporting solutions.
• Certification in Business Analysis is highly desirable.
• Project Management and GIS certification would be considered an asset.
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $38.24 to $44.96 plus 12% in lieu of benefits including vacation and statutory holiday pay.
