Job Description: Employees in this position perform a variety of customer service and support functions at the Parks and Recreation Department including: switchboard, reception, processing of payments, registrations, facility bookings and admissions. While some independence of judgment is authorized, complex situations or unusual problems are referred to a supervisor.
Duties: Answer incoming calls on the switchboard, and respond to, or re-direct inquiries, to appropriate staff.

Provide reception duties for the Parks and Recreation Department

Provide program and facility information to internal and external customers.

Receive and process program registrations, including contacting clients with specific information on program changes and cancellations.

Schedule and process facility and equipment rental requests.

Receive and process payments for program registration, facility and equipment rentals, public admissions, and sales of other services and products.

Reconcile cash at end of shift to cash register receipts and prepare bank deposit.
Record statistics.

Monitor and operate surveillance equipment.

File and retrieve related documents as required.

Maintain adequate inventory of related office supplies, resale and rental supplies.

Maintain an up to date level of knowledge of the programs and services offered by the department including schedules, rates and policies.
Educational Requirements: High school graduation or equivalent.
Skill Requirements: Ability to accurately process cash and other payments and maintain related records.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar customer service environment.

Ability to operate switchboard and public address system, and a variety of related office equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers and to communicate tactfully and effectively.

Ability to be calm, courteous and tactful in a variety of demanding situations.

Computer skills in a variety of related computer applications including data entry, and keyboarding.
Salary: The 2019 hourly rate of pay for this position is $25.78 plus a percentage in lieu of all benefits.
Additional Information: You must be able to work a variety of shifts between the hours of 5:30 am and 10:00 pm including weekends and some statutory holidays.
