The City of Abbotsford currently has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I in the J.A.M.E.S Plant.

This work involves assisting in the operation and monitoring of equipment throughout the Pollution Control Centre; assisting in the maintenance and repair of equipment such as pumps, valves, belt filter presses, chlorination and dechlorination systems, lubricating and cleaning of machinery and equipment, performing "housekeeping" and general maintenance work throughout the Plant, and on equipment such as sedimentation and grit tanks, trickling filters, nitrifying tanks, belt filter presses, pump stations, and assisting in detailed record keeping and input of data to the computer system.

The successful candidate will perform and interpret laboratory analysis for wastewater treatment quality monitoring and perform a variety of wastewater and sludge sampling operations

To be considered for this position, you must have:

??? Grade 12 plus B.C. Environmental Operators Certification Program, Wastewater Treatment Class I Certification;
??? A minimum of 1 year of experience in Wastewater Treatment;
??? B.C. Environmental Operators Certification Program Chlorine Handler Certificate, or equivalent university and/or college level training;
??? WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level I Certificate, and ability to obtain Level II certificate within six (6) months as required;
??? Valid B.C. Class 3 Driver???s Licence.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $24.30 to $28.58 per hour (2015 rate). In addition the City of Abbotsford offers a comprehensive benefits package.
