Be part of the story. Join our team today. The City of Abbotsford is currently offering a full-time Works Inspector I position within our Engineering and Regional Utilities Department. The Works Inspector I is a junior level inspector that assists with regulatory and field inspection work of a technical nature, ensuring developers, contractors, utility companies and City Operations follow approved plans and specifications of city public works, maintenance and construction projects. The incumbent assists with inspecting and reporting on all aspects of current gravel removal/deposit operations as well as the overseeing of contract work for City surface and underground construction projects and is responsible for ensuring that infrastructure meets or exceeds industry standard workmanship, conforms with bylaws, plans, specifications, schedules, regulatory requirements and summarizes and presents work completed by the contractor. In this unique opportunity, the incumbent will participate in a skill development program designed to provide them with experience in all areas of Works Inspection to prepare them to meet the requirements of the higher level Works Inspector role. As the ideal candidate you must have: ??? Completion of Grade 12; ??? Completion of a Certificate of Technology Program in Civil Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution; ??? Minimum of three months inspection experience in areas of civil construction and inspection; ??? Valid B.C. Driver's Licence; and ??? Membership or eligibility for membership with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of B.C. as a Certified Technician (CTech). This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is $29.03 - 34.14 plus a comprehensive, competitive, benefits package.
