The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for an auxiliary Support Clerk to join our team of professionals in the Community Development and Engineering Divisions; Business Support Departments. If you enjoy working with the public, are passionate about providing excellent service, have a thirst for knowledge related to municipal permitting and licencing processes, and are a stickler for detail, then we want to hear from you!

Reporting to the Manager, Community Development Business Support, in this unionized position you will be primarily responsible for providing front-line customer service responding to inquiries, requests and complaints by telephone, email, and in person. This position will interpret and explain bylaws, regulations, and general policies related to development including various permit and licencing applications.

Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Business Support, in this unionized position you will be primarily responsible for front-line customer service, processing applications and permits, processing service requests, coordinating permit logistics for special events, record keeping, and other associated responsibilities.

Your education will include completion of grade 12, preferably including or supplemented by commercial and accounting courses. Considerable related experience preferably in a municipal department or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. The ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and subordinates in processing a variety of enquiries, complaints and related matters is required. You are committed to excellence in customer service to both internal and external customers, responding to inquiries and requests by telephone, email, and in person. You will explain and interpret rules, regulations, and general policies and have the ability to manage a variety of tasks with speed and accuracy, and enjoy working in a busy environment.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $24.81 - $29.16 per hour (5 steps, 2018 rates), plus 13% in lieu of benefits. This is an auxiliary position which is on-call; there are no guaranteed regular hours. Work assignments will be scheduled for 7 hours per day between 8:30am ??? 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
