The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. March 5, 2018 to approx. March 8, 2019) Electrician to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Strategic Initiatives Department.

Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible in this unionized position for performing independently and/or in conjunction with a superior installing and maintaining electrical controls, alarms and motors for sewage, water and drainage pumps, telemetry systems, programmable logic controllers, lighting, etc. You will also perform miscellaneous construction wiring and related maintenance tasks in municipal buildings; respond to emergency calls; estimate and requisition materials; and inspect electrical installations by contractors on municipal work as well as prepare related reports and liaise with municipal staff.

Your education will include completion of the 12th school grade supplemented by completion of technical courses related to the work, and sound related journeyman experience working with electrical control equipment and systems; as well as training and experience in operation and maintenance of telemetry systems, programmable logic controllers and related equipment; solid state experience, electronics experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have thorough knowledge of the standard methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the installation and maintenance of specialized electrical control systems and equipment as well as considerable knowledge of the hazards and necessary safety precautions and the rules and regulations governing electrical work.. A minimum of 3 years work experience as a certified electrician is considered an asset.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $38.13 per hour (2018 rates) plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work Monday to Friday 8:00am ??? 4:30pm.
