Headquartered in Chilliwack, B.C., the Fraser Valley Regional District is inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill the time-duration union position of Student I (Weed Control Technician) effective May 7, 2018 to August 31, 2018. |

| Duties: |
The Student I (Weed Control Technician) will assist in the operation of the Fraser Valley Regional District???s Invasive Weed Control Program and will be responsible for hand pulling and cutting down high priority noxious weeds in the region. Additional duties include mapping infestation and treatment areas, providing education material to residents, coordinating with landowners to pick up and dispose of invasive weeds, report writing, identification of reported weeds, and other general duties as assigned. Assignments and responsibilities are performed under the general supervision of the Deputy Director of Regional Programs.

| Educational Requirements: |
Candidates must be: (i) currently attending or enrolled in the next semester of a secondary or post-secondary educational program, full or part-time; or (ii) have attended full or part-time, in the last academic year. Candidates must also possess an unrestricted BC Class 5 driver???s licence and be willing to provide an updated Driver???s Licence Abstract if hired. |

| Skill Requirements: |
This position is ideal for someone who is responsible, physically fit, and enjoys working outdoors as part of a team environment. There will be on-the-job training for specific knowledge and skills required. |

| Salary: |
Interested and qualified candidates are welcome to apply for the position. The wage rate for this position will be $17.13 per hour ($15.49 plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits). |

| Additional Information: |
The incumbent(s) will work 7.5 hours per day (37.5 hours per week), Monday to Friday, with one half hour for lunch. Hours of work will be scheduled anywhere between 7:00am and 4:30pm from May 7 to June 30 and between 6:00am and 4:30pm from July 1 to August 31.
