The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Recreation Programmer ??? Health and Fitness to join our team of professionals in the Parks and Recreation Division; Recreation Programs and Services Department.

Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the planning, organization, implementation and promotion of a wide variety of programs as well as assisting in preparing program budgets for review and approval, and assisting in the recruitment and hiring of program staff. You will have a sound knowledge of the principles, philosophy, objectives and administration of recreation programs and events with a particular emphasis on fitness, weight room, health and wellness areas; and knowledge of programming requirements, standards and leadership methods and teaching techniques pertaining to the assigned programs.

Your education includes university graduation in Physical Education or Kinesiology supplemented by courses in weight training and fitness and several years??? experience including supervisory experience. Superior customer service skills are vital as you are the working with the public, with staff and with external agencies. Experience in a municipal environment , a degree in Kinesiology and experience working directly with clients; background in physical rehabilitation, (water and/or land); experience with program development for all ages; Class software experience; High 5 certification; Physical Literacy training; Fundamental Movement Skills; and Supervisor of fitness leaders designation, are preferred.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside. The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $30.37 - $35.74 per hour (5 steps, 2018 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday 1:00pm ??? 10:00pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9:00am ??? 6:00pm, and Sunday 8:00am ??? 5:00pm; non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week.
