Job Description: The Web & New Media Team is looking for an outgoing, team player to contribute to web and social digital content needs focused on the City???s major events such as: Surrey Children???s Festival, Surrey Fusion Festival, Canada Day, Doors Open and other major events during the May to August period. The position would report to the City???s Senior Social Media Specialist and work closely with special event teams within the City.
Duties: ??? Plan, curate, and execute social media campaigns on the City???s events social media channels and support events web editing for events via the City???s digital channels;
??? Coordinate with key staff across the City on social media campaigns;
??? Liaise with marketing team stakeholders to ensure continuity with broad based event marketing;
??? Grow audiences of social media properties while adhering to a specific tone of voice;
??? Implement, monitor and adjust social media advertising campaigns as needed;
??? Monitor, respond and engage with the audience for multiple social channels;
??? Use analytics and social listening tools to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and continually seek ways to improve community engagement online;
??? Conduct on-site event coverage for major City events, including working with photographers to post live content;
??? Communicate with sponsors to execute social media campaigns;
??? Implement social media contesting and organize prize redemption;
??? Ensure adherence to communications guidelines, policies and procedures;
??? Create and update content on the City???s websites pertaining to events as needed; and
??? Availability to occasionally work a non-standard work week including weekends during key events.
Educational Requirements: o A diploma or degree in Communications or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution and a minimum of 3 years??? related experience or an equivalent acceptable combination of education and experience.
o Considerable knowledge of social media channels and approaches, and a familiarity with communication principles specific to each medium.
Skill Requirements: ??? You are a strong communicator with experience working in social media for engagement and promotion;
??? You have a knack for cultivating online communities and show ability to multi-task concurrent campaigns while balancing resourcing to various city business units and events;
??? With your knowledge of best practices for web and social media communication, you can create goal-oriented campaigns that meet brand guidelines and achieve business goals;
??? You know how to excite and engage audiences, bring stories of life, and encourage users to share their stories along the way. You are creative with strong attention to detail;
??? You are interested in social media trends and have a strong willingness to learn and try new things;
