||The Surrey Fire Service is one of the most progressive leaders in public safety in Canada. This casual term specific position will be working under the direction of the Support Supervisor. This position performs intermediate clerical work as well as counter duties. This position will be four days per week, with some opportunity for 5 days a week.
•Gathering, organizing, and recording information.
•Liaising with various internal departments and staff to gather information as required.
•Composing a variety of correspondence and documents
•Processing and reviewing data related to Fire Prevention clerical duties.
•Assisting other administrative staff in performing their duties as required.
•Assembling and preparing reports.
•Receiving, reviewing, clarifying, and confirming requests for information.
•Explaining moderately complex departmental rules, practices, and procedures to public and staff.
•Answering the telephone, recording information, and referring persons seeking information or assistance to appropriate departmental staff.
•Additional duties as required.
•Oral and written communication skills.
•Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs in a fast-paced office environment.
•Aptitude to learn new software programs within short timeframes.
•High attention to detail and accuracy.
•Interpersonal and public relation skills.
•Effective problem solving skills and independence of judgment, within specific guidelines.
•Proficiency with Office suite software (word processing, excel, outlook), office practices and other computer office applications
•One year post-secondary education
•At least two years’ experience in an office environment
•A minimum of 60 wpm typing/data entry speed is required
•Valid B.C. Driver’s License required
