The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for an auxiliary Parking Bylaw Enforcement Officer to join our team of professionals in the Community Development Division, Bylaw Enforcement Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Bylaw Enforcement, you will be responsible in this unionized position for regulatory and enforcement work, to ensure public compliance with the Township???s parking regulations and bylaws. Specifically, you will perform patrols by License Plate Recognition in vehicle or on foot and will enforce the Township???s parking regulations on streets, lanes and parking lots; investigate complaints relative to parking; submit prosecution reports for the adjudication process; serve letters and notices to property owners; respond to other bylaw issues as required (e.g. investigates public complaints such as those related to property and snow removal) and prepare and maintain records related to work.

Your education includes completion of grade 12 and training in bylaw enforcement and sound experience in inspectional and enforcement work or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You must have sound knowledge of municipal bylaws, regulations and applicable provincial statutes as well as knowledge of court and adjudication procedures and legality of various types of evidence. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this role. Computer familiarity is required with proficiency to prepare routine reports and maintain records manually and/or using software applications.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside. The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $25.84 - $30.37 per hour (2018 rates) plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Non-standard Hours and/or Non-standard Work Week.

Shifts will be scheduled based on operational need. Applicants must be available to work on any or all of the following days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday as well as Statutory Holidays.
