The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Arena Maintenance Worker to join our team of professionals in the Parks and Recreation Division; Recreation Programs and Services Department.

Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, you will be responsible in this unionized position for operating ice-making and resurfacing equipment in the production and maintenance of arena and curling ice; monitor refrigeration equipment, including taking and recording readings and reporting issues; checking, adjusting and performing routine repairs and maintenance tasks on equipment and ensuring ice quality is maintained. You will perform a variety of semi-skilled building maintenance and minor repair tasks; perform routine janitorial duties such as cleaning public areas, washrooms and change rooms; carry out security checks; ensuring patrons adhere to facility rules and regulations; as well as prepare and maintain a variety of simple records related to the work.

Your education will include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by training related to the work plus some related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in ice-making operations; knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment used in building maintenance and janitorial work; some knowledge of refrigeration equipment operation and the ability to operate ice-making and resurfacing equipment and to monitor refrigeration equipment is necessary. You will also have the ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled building maintenance, and minor repair tasks and to perform routine janitorial duties while working under minimal supervision, ensuring janitorial tasks are completed and dealing courteously and effectively with patrons in ensuring observance of facility rules and regulations.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $23.17 - $27.23 per hour (5 steps, 2018 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Tuesday to Saturday 3:00pm ??? 11:00pm; Non-standard Hours and/or Non-standard Work Week.
