The City of Abbotsford???s Geomatics Division is seeking a self-motivated professional to join their dynamic team as an auxiliary Survey Technician I. This opportunity is full time on a temporary basis until return of incumbent, approximately four (4) months.

In this role, you will conduct a variety of field survey projects and collect GIS data for city infrastructure. Your working knowledge of surveying and engineering principles and practices will assist you in: taking linear measurements, establishing coordinates, lines and grades, clearing foliage and other obstacles from survey site lines, compiling detailed notes, sketches and computations, filling out cut sheets, and maintaining survey equipment. The successful applicant will work with the Survey Technician II in conducting moderately complex and complex topographical surveys and construction layouts for city engineering projects.

Your knowledge of trigonometry and mathematical functions related to the work performed, excellent written and verbal communication skills and your ability to perform detailed work efficiently and accurately will guide your success in this position. Assignments are given by a supervisor either in writing or verbally and involve independence of judgement within established guidelines.

As our ideal candidate you will have:

??? Grade 12 plus a one (1) year survey certificate from a recognized educational institution;
??? A minimum of six (6) months of survey experience; and
??? A valid B.C. Driver???s Licence.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $25.31 to $29.74 plus an additional 12% in lieu of all benefits including vacation and statutory holiday pay.
