Job Description: We are the third largest regional district in BC and deliver over 100 services to six municipalities and eight electoral areas that are made up of cities, towns and small rural communities. You get the picture-we do a lot of things for a lot of people.

Duties: Our ???target audience??? is pretty much everyone: the 295,934 citizens who live within our 13,336 km2 boundary, local, provincial and federal politicians, professional colleagues in each of our six municipalities, the media, developers, businesses - the list goes on. Our ???messaging??? covers everything: the importance of recycling; why you have to apply for a permit for that house addition; how we make sure you have safe drinking water; when you might need to evacuate; which park has picnic facilities for a family reunion. Our communication tools include brochures, website, media releases, social media channels, posters, videos, photos, and public events. The term of this appointment is from October 2018 to approximately October 2019.

Educational Requirements: ??? Post-secondary education, preferably in Communications or Public Relations plus several years??? experience in local government, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Skill Requirements: ??? Some experience in public outreach, and assisting in project coordination, and conducting research;
??? Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly, and converse with a wide range of people including technical consultants, elected officials, and the general public;
??? Excellent writing skills, with the ability to write in a clear and concise manner, and to prepare well written technical and administrative reports;
??? Ability to work independently , exercise good judgement, and effectively handle conflicting priorities and non-routine situations;
??? Proficient in the latest computer technology and programs such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator);
??? Must be in possession of a valid Driver???s Licence.
Salary: The start rate for this union position is $24.37 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits. Upon successful completion of the required probationary period the wage will increase to $28.67 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits.
