Job Description: The Abbotsford Police Department, with staff strength in excess of 300 is committed to providing the highest quality service to our growing community. We currently have a full time, exempt civilian position available for Director, Support Services.

As a member of the Abbotsford Police Senior Management Team, the Director of Support Services is responsible for providing leadership in the planning, development, delivery and administration of Support Services for the Department; specifically, Information Technology, Records, Property, Freedom of Information, Risk Management, Fleet, Facilities, and contracted services administration.
Duties: Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Administration, you will provide executive leadership and direction to branch services, ensuring the efficient and effective provision of support services is responsive to client needs and proactively supports the strategic directions of the Department. Your strong business mindset and superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities will support the development of prioritized department-wide and section specific plans, organization of work processes, assignment of resources, development of policies and procedures, budget development and management, equipment upgrade and replacement, and maximizing the provision of services within an increasingly integrated information technology environment.

The successful candidate must establish and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain a culture of continuous service improvement. You will have demonstrated knowledge in leveraging, performance measures, analytics, and driving business intelligence initiatives. Superior communication, interpersonal, supervisory and project management skills are the keys to success in this role.
Educational Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a university degree in Business Administration or Computer Science, or combination of work experience and education, with substantial course work in applied information technology and 10 years progressively responsible experience in provision of support/administration services, including managing/supervisory experience.
Skill Requirements: Knowledge of Public Sector, Law Enforcement, and the Criminal Justice System, as well as demonstrated experience working with unionized staff, labour relations, and negotiating collective agreements is an asset.
Additional Information: The successful candidate must obtain and maintain an enhanced security clearance, which includes a polygraph test.
