The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Operations Support Supervisor to join our team of professionals in the Protective Services - RCMP Division, Community Policing Section.

Reporting to the Manager, Police Services, in this unionized position you will be responsible for overseeing the community policing section involving a number of volunteer services and crime prevention programs including Community Police Offices, as well as being responsible for the Front Counter and Cells. You will plan, supervise, and review the work, and ensure training of subordinates. You will develop work methods, standards and procedures related to programs and services, participate with superiors in identifying program goals and objectives. You will advise superiors of policies and procedures, and recommend, and draft amendments as required. You will ensure service delivery confirms to program guidelines and objectives, evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services, recommend the development of new services, and prepare and maintain a variety of records, reports, and correspondence related to the work. The successful candidate will liaise with police members and a variety of government and community agencies to coordinate work efforts, promote program awareness, and share information.

Your education will include grade 12 supplemented by courses in supervision, volunteer management and training, plus considerable related experience, including supervisor experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have thorough knowledge of the objectives, policies and procedures of programs and services supervised, and considerable knowledge of modern administrative methods and procedures. The successful candidate will have the ability to participate in interviews, selection and training, and the ability to coordinate, direct, and evaluate the effectiveness of a variety of community policing services and programs. The ability to supervise and review the work of a large group engaged in providing diverse services is necessary. Experience in PRIME and thorough knowledge and experience with Police Information Checks is essential.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $34.98 - $41.29 per hour (5 steps, 2019 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am ??? 4:00pm; non-standard hours and or non-standard work week.
