||Development Services - Planning
||Our Planning Division of the Development Services Department is seeking a dynamic individual to join our multi-disciplinary team. As a mid-level professional Planner, you are engaged in a variety of planning functions where you will apply your sound knowledge of planning theory in both the development and policy planning disciplines.
||You will be responsible to coordinate and process a range of development applications including development permits, re-zonings, Official Community Plan amendments, and subdivisions; liaise with municipal and other government agencies; provide information and respond to queries from internal and external sources; prepare reports for Council with recommendations; research, analyze, prepare and conduct intermediate planning studies and research projects; develop growth projections and plans for industrial, commercial, residential and other areas of land use.
||In addition to a bachelor’s degree in geography, community planning, or related field supplemented by urban/community planning courses and two-three years’ experience in municipal planning, the ideal candidate will have excellent writing and communication skills, and will work well with the development community, elected officials and the public.
||We are seeking an individual with a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline driven team environment. A strong knowledge of the Local Government Act, Land Title Act and the Community Charter as they relate to local development is required; membership in CIP is preferred.
||The 2019 rate for this full-time CUPE position is $43.10 plus an excellent benefit package upon completion of probation. We also offer a 9-day fortnight schedule (extended hours for nine days and one day off every two weeks)
