The Township of Langley is currently recruiting a temporary full-time (from approx. August 19, 2019 to approx. August 20, 2021) Project Coordinator to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Facilities Planning and Construction Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Planning and Construction, you will be responsible in this unionized position to conduct field inspections, ensure work is performed in accordance with contractual terms and established regulations, arbitrate minor disputes regarding contract interpretations, construction practices, standards, and methods. You will review and approve proposed changes in the field within defined limits, recommend final acceptance of projects, monitor and assess construction progress and coordinate projects schedule updates with end users. You will develop scope of work for civic facilities projects, prepare terms of reference for the selection of architectural and engineering consultants, assist in the procurement process to retain consulting firms to develop design, specification and contract administration services for the assigned projects. The successful candidate will complete project handover process, and facilitating end user training, commissioning oversight, upgrading capital planning software, and submitting financial forms for capital asset disposal and replacement. You will assist in the annual Capital budget process, cost estimates, and project justifications and perform related work as required.

Your education will include, graduation from an Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Engineering Technology, plus considerable experience related to construction of facilities or buildings, preferably in project management; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in construction, renovation and installation of municipal facilities and equipment and the rules, regulations, bylaws and policies applicable to the work performed. You will have sound knowledge of engineering mathematics and principles and of construction plans, specifications, contract documents and data related to the work, fundamentals of budgeting and standard costing procedures related to the work performed and computer applications and capabilities related to the work performed.

RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status is required. (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $39.56 - $46.75 per hour (2019 rates), plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am ??? 4:30pm.
