The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to 3 temporary full-time Utilities Maintenance Workers (from approx. August 6, 2019 to approx. December 24, 2019) to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Utilities Operations Department.

Reporting to the Utilities Operations Manager, in this unionized position you will be responsible for exercising independent judgment and initiative ensuring safe work practices. You will assist in water works construction, maintenance and repair tasks such as installing watermains and fittings to grade. You will utilize a variety of equipment for leak detection, valve exercising, vegetation control, hydrant painting, and use an M-Scope to locate utilities. You will assist water operators in the maintenance and operation of the pump stations and PRV???s, and locate/repair broken or leaking watermains. The successful candidate will drive a Township vehicle as necessary and perform other related work as required.

Your education will include completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, supplemented by training courses and experience in utility operation and maintenance tasks or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful applicants will have sound knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment applicable to the various functional areas of utilities operations and utilities maintenance work; as well as have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit the performance of heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions.

The CUPE rate of pay is $30.23 per hour (2019 rates) plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am ??? 4:30pm.
