In partnership with BC Hydro, the City of Abbotsford has an exciting temporary full-time opportunity for the position of Energy Manager starting approximately August 2019 for a minimum of two years.

Reporting to the Director, Environmental Services and working across all departments, you will be responsible for reducing corporate energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including in civic facilities, utilities and fleet. The Energy Manager provides expertise on climate and energy issues, as well as leadership and direction to a team engaged in reducing corporate energy use and GHG emissions.

In this new role, you will develop, update and implement the City???s Strategic Energy Management Plan (SEMP) as well as associated targets, policies, plans and programs. A key task will be to identify and implement energy and GHG reduction opportunities through upgrades, building controls, equipment selection, and process and operational improvements. You will oversee the corporate energy and emissions inventory and associated reporting requirements, and facilitate energy conservation awareness and education. You will review and make strategic recommendations around energy policies as well as corporate and broader climate action. Your excellent communication and coordination skills will allow you to establish and maintain effective working relationships across City departments, as well as with the public and external organizations. As part of this, you will liaise with BC Hydro to ensure applicable program requirements are met.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a minimum of five (5) years of progressive work experience in the energy management field, including leadership experience along with a diploma in energy management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A graduate degree is preferred and/ or supplemented by any of the following professional designations:
??? Registered Professional Engineer
??? Registered Engineering Technologist
??? Registered Professional Planner
??? BCIT Sustainable Energy Management Associate
??? Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation through the Association of Energy Engineers
