The City of Abbotsford???s Human Resources Department has a temporary opportunity for an experienced Labour Relations or Human Resources professional to join our team as a Labour Relations Advisor starting October 2019.

This role offers the opportunity to enhance our existing service to City departments by providing specialized expertise in the areas of labour relations, employee relations, performance management, coaching, investigations and discipline, grievance handling, respectful workplace investigations, and collective agreement interpretation and application.

This role provides guidance to our Disability Management Advisor on accommodations and acts as a peer coach within the team providing collective agreement interpretation and application to all Advisors.

As the successful candidate, you will establish, support and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all levels of City staff, your HR colleagues and our union representatives in a forward-thinking, progressive employee relations environment. Superior communication, interpersonal, problem solving, facilitation and conflict resolution skills are the keys to success in this role.

Our ideal candidate will have:
??? Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or related field
??? Minimum of 5 years??? solid generalist or specialist Human Resources experience with a focus on labour relations in a unionized environment
??? Solid understanding of legislation and jurisprudence related to all areas of Labour Relations and Human Resources
??? Ability to thrive in a fast paced and busy work environment
??? Superior communication and interpersonal skills; and
??? CPHR designation, or working towards the designation, is considered an asset.
