Job Description: We have an exciting opportunity for a positive and energetic person to fill the part-time position of Clerk Typist 2 – Receptionist for the District of Kent. Working within the Finance Department, the successful candidate will manage the switchboard and front counter traffic by assisting the public with information as required; perform general accounting duties which will include receiving, checking, listing, and balancing cheques and cash receipts for a variety of accounts and utility services; cash receipting; preparing cash summaries, and deposits; issuing licenses tax certificates; maintain tax, water, sewer and business license rolls and dispatch notices; post and balance accounts; perform general clerical duties which will include general data input and other computer related tasks as directed.
Duties: We are looking for someone who has post-secondary education in bookkeeping and/or accounting; knowledge of municipal accounting procedures and operations; knowledge of functions, practices and procedures, bylaws, policies and regulations of municipalities; demonstrated knowledge of the methods, practices and principals of accounts receivable functions; ability to perform arithmetic and mathematical computations with speed and accuracy; and excellent interpersonal, customer service and public relations skills.
Salary: The wage rate for this part-time bargaining unit position is $26.11 per hour. Upon successful completion of the required probationary period the wage will increase to $30.72 per hour. For more information about the District of Kent, please visit our website at
