The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to three temporary full-time Utilities Maintenance Workers (from approx. January 20, 2020 to approx. December 24, 2020) to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Utilities Operations Department.
Reporting to the Utilities Operations Manager, in this unionized position you will be responsible for exercising independent judgment and initiative while ensuring safe work practices. You will assist sewer operators in the maintenance and operation of the sanitary and storm water pump stations, forcemain air valves and blowdowns, and stationary and mobile generators. You will assist in the acoustic sewer inspection program, the Closed Circuit TeleVison (CCTV) inspection program and the sanitary sewer sampling program. In this role, you will perform building and site maintenance and respond to sewer system calls and complaints, and ensure records are maintained. The successful candidate may direct or relay instructions received from superiors, inspect work in progress and on completion, drive a work truck, and perform related work as required.
Your education will include completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, supplemented by training courses and experience in utility operation and maintenance tasks or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have sound knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment applicable to the various functional areas of utilities operations and utilities maintenance work and have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit the performance of heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions.

• BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver’s license or equivalent driver’s license for where you reside. • EOCP Wastewater Collection - Level 1
The CUPE rate of pay is $30.83 per hour (2020 rates) plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm.
