The City of Abbotsford currently has a full time opportunity in our Park Services Division for an energetic and self-motivated Park Attendant. This exciting opportunity includes maintenance and custodial work involving the care and upkeep of City parks, recreational and playground areas, and cemeteries. Your ability to understand and carry out verbal instructions and perform manual tasks will assist you in performing grass cutting, hoeing, raking, weeding, pruning, spraying, watering, fertilizing, power edging, power raking and related unskilled and semi-skilled gardening tasks and assist in landscaping tasks including planting and removal of flowers, shrubs and trees.

The incumbent must have the ability to perform a variety of grounds and building maintenance and cleaning tasks, repair work, and gardening duties with minimal supervision as well as assist in providing direction to others engaged in parks maintenance and custodial work.


Qualifications Required:

??? Completion of Grade 12
??? Completion of basic park related courses - e.g. park, playground & building maintenance, horticulture, arboriculture, soils, plant ID, irrigation & drainage
??? Minimum of one year experience in general parks maintenance, horticulture or arboriculture work
??? Valid BC Driver's Licence - candidates will be asked to provide a satisfactory Driver???s Abstract
??? Completion of pesticide certification is considered an asset

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $24.02 to $28.26 (2020 rates) plus a percentage in lieu of benefits and vacation. Shift Work is involved in this position, including evenings and weekends.
