The City of Abbotsford is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our dynamic team as the full-time Landscape and Horticulture Technician in the Park Operations division.

Reporting to the Landscape and Horticulture Coordinator, you will plan, organize, direct and participate in the work of staff engaged in a variety of landscaping, horticulture and park related tasks. As the Landscape and Horticulture Technician, you will bring your expertise in a wide variety of grounds maintenance and horticultural work. In this rewarding position you will be responsible for design and maintenance of floral and planted areas, lawns, trees, irrigation systems and park amenities utilizing techniques and practices consistent with industry standards.

Your considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in horticultural work along with extensive knowledge of plant materials, fertilizers, landscaping methods and design will make you an asset to the team. Your leadership skills and experience will be essential as you direct and assist employees engaged in the maintenance and development of park areas, floral areas and turf. Your strong relationship building, communication and critical thinking skills will guide your success in this position.

To be considered for this position you must have:

??? Completion of Grade 12;
??? Completion of one year of technical training in horticulture from a recognized post-secondary institution or Level 2 training from a related trades program;
??? Two years??? experience in the maintenance of landscape and horticultural areas;
??? Completion of a Supervisory Skills training course or equivalent experience;
??? Class 5 BC Drivers Licence;
??? A valid B.C. Pesticide Applicator???s Licence in the landscape and garden category.
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $27.58 to $32.46 per hour
