The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to 3 auxiliary Arena and Facility Service Worker I???s to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Facilities Department.

Reporting to the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Superintendent, you will be responsible in this unionized position to operate ice-making, resurfacing and related equipment, ensure requirements and quality of ice is maintained and monitor energy usage to ensure equipment and building are operating within required parameters. You will assist tradespersons on repair tasks and other recreation facility and maintenance projects, participate with facility planning and also perform a variety of semi-skilled building and equipment maintenance duties. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of defined and documented preventative and operational maintenance tasks, recommending course of action, performing janitorial and custodial duties.

Your education will include, completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical courses related to the work, plus sound experience in the operation and maintenance of ice and building equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of materials, methods tools and equipment used in ice-making, ice resurfacing, janitorial, custodial, arena, facility and recreational work. You will also have working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems applicable to the operations of the facilities. You will have to enforce rules and regulations governing facility and recreation operations, as well provide assistance to the public and user groups.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a criminal record check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

??? BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside. ??? Ice Facility Operator Certificate or equivalent
??? Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $26.89 to 31.60 per hour (5 steps, 2020 rates); plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week. The successful candidate will need to be available for graveyard shifts.
