The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to two regular full-time Environmental Sustainability Coordinators to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Sustainability Department. The Township of Langley is building a sustainable community. Reporting to the Manager, Climate Action in this unionized position, you will conduct research and provide research based policy analysis in support of sustainability and climate action initiatives.

Responsibilities:
??? Perform research through a sustainability lens related to transportation and mobility, buildings, land use, infrastructure, agriculture, waste, water and other relevant sectors to assist with project, policy and program implementation.
??? Lead the development and implementation of corporate and community initiatives, programs and policies related to climate action
??? Assemble and analyze data, recommend scope, and methodology for sustainability-related studies and coordinate the services of consultants
??? Formulate draft sustainability and resource management related objectives, policy, bylaws and regulations based on research, legislative requirements and current emission reduction targets, to guide municipal development
??? Provide sustainability and resource management related advice and information to various internal/external contacts, attend meetings in a professional capacity and explain policies and provide information on professional environmental expertise
??? Review and analyze municipal bylaws for alignment with current environmental legislation, policies, regulations, and prevailing emission reduction targets; coordinates the assembly and provision of required information and the processing of updates to bylaws; and compiles and presents information to internal and external stakeholders, organizations and agencies.
??? Determine appropriate research methods, analytical techniques, designs, models, scope, timelines and costs of research projects
??? Perform other related work as required

Qualifications:
??? University graduation, including a post graduate degree in a related discipline and eligibility for registration in a professional association related to the work, plus some professional experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
??? Considerable knowledge of the practices, procedures, legislation, policies and bylaws governing sustainable transportation and mobility, buildings, land use, infrastructure, agriculture, waste, water and other relevant sectors Ability to perform environmental planning, research and analytical tasks, and to communicate effectively in oral and written form
??? Ability to prepare reports and recommendations on environmental and sustainability related aspects of land use and development projects, programs and policies
??? Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, internal and external contacts and authorities

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $43.90 - $51.87 per hour (2020 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
