The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Project Engineer to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Transportation Department. Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Engineering, in this exempt position you will be responsible for the overall project management and contract administration of capital and other projects as it relates to transportation.

The successful candidate will prepare cost estimates, coordinate and schedule the work of consultants, perform engineering quality reviews, tendering, and budget control. The Project Engineer prepares the terms of reference, reviews requests for proposal, and awards engineering assignments accordingly. This position prepares the MMCD construction documents and specifications for capital projects.

Your education will include a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution directly related to the work, eligibility or membership as a registered Professional Engineer in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC, supplemented with some supervisory experience and a minimum 2 years of experience working in a municipal environment. With strong interpersonal skills and a minimum of 5 years work related experience in project management, you are enthusiastic, well organized and able to communicate effectively with internal contacts, the community, consultants and contractors. You have extensive computer familiarity with proficiency in spreadsheets, knowledge and experience in local government, institutional processes and relevant legislation/bylaws. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate excellence in leadership and the ability to interpret the Township???s policies, standards and design criteria as they affect specific projects.

In order to be considered for this position, you must have a valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) Driver???s License or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside. You must include with your application a current Personal Driving Record (select the 5 year option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date of this competition. The Personal Driving Record must be uploaded with your application and in order for your application to be complete. Other required licenses, certificates and registrations associated with this competition also must be valid and current at the time the job competition closes and must be attached with your application.
