The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Transportation Engineer (from approx. July 26, 2021 to July 28, 2023) to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Transportation Department. Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Engineering, in this Exempt position you will be responsible for all modes of transportation as it relates to transportation engineering and planning including the development of a Strategic Transportation Plan. This will include addressing access and mobility, transportation choices, affordability, community and environmental issues and supports the Township Township???s Climate Action Strategy (CAS). Working with other departments, municipalities and government agencies, citizen groups and the public, this position requires a high level of leadership, and innovation.

Your education will include a Degree in Civil and registration, or eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia with a with a minimum of 5 years work experience in Transportation Engineering with experience in responsible project management and a minimum of 2 years work experience at the municipal level. You have experience in transportation system long range planning, traffic impact analysis, alternate modes of transportation and traffic calming measures. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate leadership, have the ability to problem solve and interpret policies, standards/design criteria. Extensive computer familiarity is required with proficiency in Microsoft Office, visual presentations and spreadsheets and the successful candidate will have knowledge of TAC standards and alternate modes of transportation.

In order to be considered for this position, you must have a valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) Driver???s License or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside. You must include with your application a current Personal Driving Record (select the 5 year option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date of this competition. The Personal Driving Record must be uploaded with your application and in order for your application to be complete.
