Job Description: The City of Mission is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to serve as the front-line contact with the public through the patrol and monitoring of City public spaces, and enforcing City Bylaws where needed.
Duties: This position will be responsible for performing patrols at locations such as Parks and Forestry sites, trails and other public spaces, provide information related to the application and interpretation of City of Mission Bylaws, enforces relevant bylaws through education, notices, tickets, and charges, investigate violations, complaints, and incidents, and collaborate with other departments and regulatory safety agencies such as RCMP, Forestry, and Fire Rescue to assist in emergency situations as well as traffic and crowd control.
Educational Requirements: The successful candidates will have a High School Graduation or equivalent along with the completion of law and/or bylaw enforcement-based studies at an accredited institution such as BCIT or JIBC, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. You will have a valid Class 5 Drivers License as well as a valid Occupational or Standard First Aid Level 1.
Skill Requirements: As the ideal candidate, you will have strong customer service skills, basic knowledge of the relevant municipal bylaws and regulations, and have the ability to establish and maintain good public relations through exercising knowledge, diplomacy, and persuasion when dealing with the general public, businesses, other departments, and other government agencies. You will also have the ability to walk long distances and work outside in varying weather conditions.
Salary: The 2020 hourly wage rate for this auxiliary CUPE position is $27.04 plus 4.4% in lieu of benefits.
