The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to three auxiliary Park Rangers to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Parks Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Parks Operations, in this unionized position you will perform a variety of routine regulatory and enforcement work as it relates to Parks Operations.

Responsibilities:
??? Inspect park facilities, report damage and patrol park areas to prevent/stop inappropriate behavior
??? Respond to service requests and park emergencies that may occur outside of Parks Operations standard business hours
??? Enforce Township bylaws, issue tickets/tow orders and if required request assistance from appropriate authorities
??? Assist injured park users, provide first aid and contact fire/rescue services as required
??? Gather evidence and appear as a witness in court and/or conduct cases before a Justice of the Peace as required
??? Perform other related work, as required

Qualifications:
??? Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work, and some related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
??? Sound knowledge of the operations, bylaws and regulations governing park areas and facilities
??? Working knowledge of the procedures for bylaw enforcement and the ability to enforce rules and regulations
??? Ability to walk and/or ride a bicycle long distances and work under varying weather conditions
??? Ability to perform routine repair and maintenance tasks related to park operations

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a Position of Trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a Police Information Check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $29.13 per hour (2020 rates), plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours and days of work vary and may be up to eight (8) hours per day; 40 hours per week; Non-standard hours and non-standard work week.
