| Job Description: |
Communications staff play a critical role in assisting the public, responding to 911 calls as well as routine complaints, inquiries and dispatching of officers in response to calls for service.
Our communications centre works 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 12 hour shifts; days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
As a casual/on-call employee, there is no guarantee of hours but you may be expected to work up to full-time hours. The training period is full time shift work.
After the training period for call taking and dispatching, our casuals are expected to work shifts that are scheduled in advance or be available for short notice call outs.
Candidates must be able to multi-task, possess strong customer service skills, able to problem solve and communicate effectively with people under a variety of circumstances. Teamwork and a positive outlook are essential.
Applicants will be tested in order to assess the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the position. In addition, the successful candidate must obtain and maintain an enhanced security clearance, which includes a polygraph test. |
