Job Description: The District of Hope is a local government organization that delivers numerous services to residents living in our community. We are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified individuals to fill four (4) entry level Labourer positions in our Operations department. These are unionized (non-management) positions that are time-durated for up to 120 days worked, typically between the months of April and October.
Duties: The schedule for these positions is as follows (please indicate clearly in your application which position you are applying for):
• 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (2 Positions in Roads
Department).
• 40 hours per week, Wednesday to Sunday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (2 Positions in Parks
Department).

Reporting to the Operations Manager, these positions will assist the department with the maintenance of parks, boulevards and cemeteries, or in the construction and maintenance of District roads, water, sanitary and storm drainage systems and facilities.

Educational Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess:
• Completion of grade 12 or equivalent;
Skill Requirements: • Knowledge of the practices, procedures, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the
maintenance of municipal infrastructure;
• Ability to deal with the public in a courteous, tactful and diplomatic manner;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
• The physical strength, stamina, and coordination required to effectively perform the work in all
weather conditions.
• A valid driver’s licence;
Salary: The wage rate for this union position is $33.38 per hour and the probationary period is 65 days actually worked.
