Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to fifteen auxiliary Labourers to join our team of professionals in the Public Works Division, Infrastructure Assets, Parks Operations, Roads Operations, Utilities (Sewer and Water) Operations, and Stormwater Departments. Reporting to the manager in this unionized position you will perform a variety of manual work requiring physical effort and agility in the operations of semi-skilled and unskilled construction/maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities
• Perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the operation, repair, construction and maintenance of water and sanitary sewer, parks, stormwater and roads infrastructure
• Perform maintenance and construction on sportsfields, landscaping, cemeteries, trails, playgrounds, park furniture, sports facilities and fences
• Perform confined space entry in hazardous environments for the purpose of maintenance
• Act as a pad-person/spotter for backhoes performing utilities construction operations
• Break blacktop and concrete surfaces using pneumatic hammer and compressor accessories
• Drive a vehicle to transport materials and tools to and from job sites
• Perform other related work as required

Qualifications
• Completion of Grade 12 with some experience in construction and maintenance or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Sound knowledge of the methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in general construction and maintenance work
• Skill in the use of a variety of tools used in general maintenance and construction work
• Sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit the performance of heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and simple written instructions
• Valid BC Class 3 Driver’s License (full-privilege) with Air Brake Endorsement is considered an asset

Required Certifications/Licenses
Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.
