Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting a regular full-time Utilities Operations Superintendent to join our team of professionals in the Public Works Division, Utilities Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Utilities Operations, this exempt position offers an opportunity assist in all aspects of utilities operations. The Superintendent serves as a key resource for the department, assisting with recruitment, employee training, and performance evaluations. This role involves collaborating with external agencies, developers, consultants, and the general public and ensuring that work is within established guidelines. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent leadership skills and a broad range of knowledge and experience in the operation, maintenance, and construction of water and sanitary sewer utilities.

Responsibilities
• Supervise and manage staff, provide leadership, employee performance, development and training
• Perform operational planning, design, estimating, inspection and maintenance functions for water, and sanitary systems and related facilities
• Draft specifications, terms of reference, contracts, safe work procedures, maintenance procedures and programs

Qualifications
Your education will include a BCIT and/or equivalent Civil Engineering Technologist diploma plus a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in a municipal engineering environment or municipal consulting engineering company, or equivalent. Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) certification in Water (Level 4) and/or Sewer (Level 3) is considered an asset.

Required Certifications/Licenses
Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.
• BC Class 5 (full privilege) Driver’s License. You must include with your application a current Personal Driving Record (select the 5-year option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date. To obtain a copy of your Personal Driving Record, please contact ICBC directly or the driving authority where you reside. Please note that a copy of your Driver’s License and the Driver Factor Report will not be accepted.
• Eligibility for registration under the provisions of the Applied Science Technologist and Technicians Act of British Columbia as a Civil Engineering Technologist
