Job Description: |
The City of Abbotsford’s Planning and Development Services Department is seeking an experienced and self-motivated professional to join their dynamic team as an Environmental Coordinator. As the City of Abbotsford’s newest Environmental Coordinator, you will assist planning and development services, with addressing fisheries, wildlife, and related ecological matters arising from development. Your role will involve advising on the impacts of urban development, construction projects, agriculture, resource extraction, and other human activities on the ecological systems within the City. You will make recommendations on both protecting and enhancing fish and wildlife habitat and minimizing ecological disruption. |

Duties: |
You will review development applications for compliance with environmental regulations, provide technical expertise to staff, develop and maintain environmental policies, perform field inspections, respond to public inquiries, liaise with environmental organizations, lead biophysical data projects, participate in educational programs, and prepare grant applications. |

Educational Requirements: |
Qualifications:
• Completion of a degree in biology, environmental science, geography, or environmental engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in an environmental field with direct involvement in urban infrastructure and development projects.
• Valid BC Driver’s Licence.
• Professional designation or equivalent certification (e.g., Registered Professional Biologist, Environmental Professional, Professional Agrologist, P.Eng., P.Geo, or Eng.L.).

Salary: |
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $46.35 to $54.53. |
