Job Description: Are you looking for a new and challenging opportunity? The City of Abbotsford is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time Deck Supervisor to join our team.

Duties: This entry-level supervisory role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about aquatic safety and instruction. As the successful candidate, you will oversee on-deck employees engaged in lifeguarding, swim instruction, special events, and various janitorial and preventative maintenance tasks. You will play a crucial role in developing our aquatic staff by providing guidance, feedback and ongoing training to ensure a high level of customer service and adherence to safety standards.
Educational Requirements: Your strong communication and relationship building skills will be essential as you provide instruction in a variety of aquatic and related programs. In addition, you will participate in regular on and off deck rotations and ensure all staff are rotating and starting swim lessons on time.
Skill Requirements: To be considered for this position you must have the following certifications:
• Completion of Grade 12
• Minimum of two years’ experience guarding and instructing in an aquatic’s environment
• Lifesaving Society- Swim for Life Instructor
• National Lifeguard (Pool Option)
• CPR Level C with AED (within 1 year as City of Abbotsford requirement)
• Supervision Evaluation & Enhancement Auditor (SEE Auditor)

Recertifications that are completed during the recruitment and selection process must be uploaded to the online portal for your application to remain in competition. During employment, it is the responsibility of the employee to ensure certifications are valid at all times.
Salary: This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $27.90 to $32.83.
Additional Information: The shift schedule for this position is Sunday – Thursday.
Sunday from 12:00pm – 8:30pm and Monday – Thursday 2:00pm – 10:30pm.
