Job Description:
Are you interested in applying your talents and knowledge and gaining valuable experience? The City of Abbotsford has a four-month co-op opportunity starting September 2025, with an hourly wage of $19.98 – $25.45 dependent on year of study. In this role, you will assist in a variety of records and information management projects. These projects will include executing from start to finish a digitization project as well as gaining experience with the City’s Electronic Document Records Management system (CEDAR). In this role, you will work with records management staff on a number of department information projects gaining valuable practice in project management, electronic records, and information and privacy. This position will work from Abbotsford City Hall located at 32315 South Fraser.
Duties: What you’ll Do:

Review the City’s historical record holdings (both electronic and physical) to formulate a report for suggested approaches to proceed with a plan for the City’s Archival record holdings
Review and update policies and procedures, staff manuals, guidance documents to reflect changes updated in the LGMA Freedom of Information, Records Management manuals and any future technological updates (i.e. Artificial Intelligence)
Liaise with City departments to assist with the organization and clean-up of their CEDAR system file structure and security groups
Assist with the annual physical and electronic destruction of City records
Assist with the development and updating of training and awareness material
Assist with scanning Legislative Services historical records and saving in the CEDAR system
Educational Requirements: Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

Currently enrolled in Co-operative Education Program at a recognized post-secondary institution with an interest in records and privacy;
Ability to interpret policies, procedures and legislation;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, elected and appointed official, and the public;
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time;
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat; and
Familiarity with information management and information systems is an asset.
