Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, in this unionized position you will apply your advanced knowledge, enthusiasm and expertise to instruct a variety of recreation and aquatic fitness programs for participants of various ages, abilities and interests. This position is ideal for candidates with strong leadership and communication skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities • Assist and participate in planning, organizing and promoting a variety of programs • Assist and participate in conducting safety training programs for staff • Maintain inventory of instruction supplies and equipment • Assist in conducting a maintenance and custodial program ensuring that established standards of cleanliness and safety are enforced • Respond to enquiries/complaints from the public regarding programs and activities • Perform related work as required Qualifications • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, combined with related experience in programs and activities • Sound knowledge of recreation programs, practices, and objectives • Ability to organize, lead and participate in recreation programs and activities • Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with participants, recreation staff and volunteers • Additional certifications are considered an asset This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety).
