Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Supervisor, Parks Infrastructure to join our team of professionals in the Public Works Division, Parks Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Parks Operations, in this unionized position you will perform a range of responsibilities in support of the department, including the organization, coordination and supervision of the Parks Operations crew. This position ensures compliance with safe work practices and is ideal for individuals who demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills.

Responsibilities
• Supervise, plan, assign and coordinate the crew who perform maintenance, repair construction and development duties, while also participating in hands-on work as required
• Prepare project plans, schedules and diagrams and coordinate and oversee projects carried out by the crew and contractors
• Conduct assessments, safety inspections and incident investigations for parks, playgrounds, sports and recreational areas and request/initiate remedial action as required
• Develop and implement new or improved work methods and procedures and prepare preventative maintenance schedules as required
• Implement required safety methods and precautions to ensure safety for employees and the public
• Respond to requests, enquires and concerns from the public
• Coordinate and review purchases related to Parks Operations projects
• Assist in coordination and set up of various special events as required
• Perform related work as required

Qualifications
• Completion of Grade 12 and a recognized carpentry apprenticeship, preferably supplemented by technical courses related to the work, plus sound related experience preferably in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment applicable to the work
• Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions
• Sound knowledge of the regulations, bylaws, objectives and policies related to parks operations
• Working knowledge of computer applications and software related to the work
• Ability to coordinate, oversee and inspect the work of crews and contractors engaged in park maintenance and construction work
• Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints, drawings and prepare diagrams
• Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with internal/external contacts

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a Position of Trust (Child Safety). The successful candidates will be required to have a Police Information Check as a condition of employment (not required as part of the application process, however, will be required upon consideration for employment).

Required Certifications/Licenses
Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.
• BC Class 5 (full privilege) Driver’s License.
