Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Electrician to join our team of professionals in the Facilities Division, Facilities Operations and Maintenance Department. Reporting to the Facilities Superintendent, in this unionized position you will perform a variety of skilled technical work at a journeyman level related to the design, upgrades, installation and maintenance of municipal electrical systems, and fixtures.

Responsibilities
• Perform miscellaneous construction wiring and related maintenance tasks in municipal buildings
• Installation and maintenance of electrical systems in facilities
• Repair and maintenance of building generators and backup systems
• Install and maintain electrical controls, alarms/motors for sewage, and drainage pumps and equipment
• Install, maintain and repair data and phone system wiring
• Estimate and requisition materials required for projects
• Respond to emergency calls and resolve issues/emergency situations related to the work performed
• Perform other related work as required

Qualifications
• Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by completion of technical courses related to the work plus sound related journeyman experience working with electrical control equipment and systems, training and experience in operation and maintenance of telemetry systems, programmable logic controllers and related equipment, solid state experience, electronics experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Thorough knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the installation and maintenance of specialized electrical and electronic control systems and equipment
• Considerable knowledge of the hazards and required safety precautions related to the work and of the rules and regulations governing the work performed
• Ability to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled electrical tasks with minimal supervision
• Ability to make responsible decisions under pressure and in response to emergency situations
• Ability to maintain records, estimate materials required and requisition parts and materials as required
• Electrical Field Safety Representative (FSR) Certification is considered an asset

Security Clearance for work at RCMP Buildings is required (not required as part of the application process, however, will be required upon consideration for employment).

Required Certifications/Licenses
Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.
• BC Class 5 (full privilege) Driver’s License.
