Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services, you will assist the Environmental Services team in the successful operation of its biodiversity, sustainability, and solid waste programs to achieve the City of Chilliwack’s environmental protection goals. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of initiatives, including habitat enhancement, environmental education, and waste reduction projects. Educational Requirements: • Must have, at a minimum, a diploma in Environmental Sciences or related discipline with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience related to applicable environmental work – OR – an acceptable combination of education and experience; Skill Requirements: • Experience delivering habitat enhancement or riparian restoration projects; • Possess knowledge of environmental contamination principles and practices; • Possess sound knowledge of solid waste management practices and other environmental sustainability principles; • Able to research, analyse, and interpret a variety of technical data and information; • Possess good knowledge of national, provincial, and municipal laws, bylaws, codes, and policies governing environmental matters; • Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with contractors, engineers, developers, First Nations, elected officials, other members of staff, and the general public; • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in written format, with sound knowledge and ability to prepare and present technical and non-technical reports and all forms of general correspondence; • Have a high level of computer literacy, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; and • Be in possession of a valid B.C. Driver's Licence.
